As you all know that i have a iPad and have a few movies. There are a few options on the ipad to play movies – one is the ipad’s native movie player and another is Airvideo App. New on the scene is the app called Cinexplayer.
1. Ipad Movie Player – the native app that comes with all ipads. All videos that play through this are bought through the itunes store or your locally saved content converted using a program such as Handbrake.
2. AirVideo – This app is a network based app, you run server software on your local PC and share pre-defined folders. Your iPad with its local WiFi connection will connect to the shared folders and either convert video or do a live conversion and play the movie. This app seems to play xvid, mkv and various other formats.
3. Cinexplayer – The latest player to the game is a ipad app that lets you sync (via itunes) xvid files, there is no need for conversions and network connections. The only limitation is the file needs to be a avi extension and has to be xvid format.
Out of the 3 nothing beats using Handbrake software to convert your locally stored TV/Movies. Then syncing via itunes and using the inbuilt ipad video player.
